A low body temp? What should I do now?
AvoirFoiEnMoi Asked: A low body temp? What should I do now?
(I realize this is the wrong category for this question, but I'm not really getting any answers anywhere else..)
I'm 20 years old and female, I don't do drugs, I'm not on any medications and I'm healthy.
My normal body temp is the average 98.6.
I've been feeling nauseous on and off for days now, it comes in random waves. All the pregnancy tests I've taken were negative.
Yesterday a wave of nauseous hit and after sucking on a peppermint didn't work, I grabbed the thermometer and climbed into bed. My external body temp (armpit) was 95.9, orally it was 96.7.
I called a 24-hr nurse and explained my dizziness and nauseous-ness and she told me it was mild hypothermia (I live in Seattle), and told me to bundle up, take a hot shower, drink warm liquids and that if that didn't work within half an hour then I needed to call her back.
It was really late when I called so I ended up just going to bed after following everything she said.
This morning I woke up fine, I took a hot shower and got dressed in jeans, a long sleeve, a jacket and a winter hat (its 63 degrees and sunny here), but I'm still cold. So I took my temp again and externally I was at 96.3 and orally I was 97.5.
I'm not exactly sure what this means, I know my thermometers work and my regular body temp is 98.6 (the average).
Is this still hypothermia or something else possibly? What should I do?
