Statistical truth of the Quran?
Zig Zag Asked: Statistical truth of the Quran?
NOTE: I am not a representative speaker of Islam, this question is to help understand a major world religion and to inspire healthy debate.
Recently researching Islam and its views on science. Was surprised to learn that many Islamic thinkers both developed and expanded the theory of evolution, contributed to it and expanded and that they held the view that the Islam did not contradict scientific development, but rather enhanced it.
Dr Zakir Naik, a muslim speaker, says that at the time of the Quran, science was primitive, and although there were theories of the shape of the earth, origin of species, etc…..most were not correct and neither was the correct one the most popular i.e. some people did think the earth was spherical, but this was not regarded by the majority of people as true….most thought the earth was flat.
so he says that stastically, the quran which contains over 1000 scientific facts, as well as historical truths and numerical truths…..is very unlikely to be by chance. even if the science in the quran existed since aristotle, there were still several other theories so the statistical chance of choosing the correct one is also low, escpecially to a man historically recorded as illiterate. This video is where i got this info (includes all references):
Too long. Didnt read. Yours truly, Fireball
Islam is the truth. Allah is great.
Zakir Naik is so full of crap it's not funny.
I am 32 years old and live in Australia, the Earth is round and rotates around the Sun and there is a unicorn in my backyard.
I hope you get the analogy
It is a joke.
"He said so…" is the lamest reason to believe anything.
"so he says that stastically, the quran which contains over 1000 scientific facts, as well as historical truths and numerical truths"
Good for him. It's obvious he has lied.Facts and truths…?Nope.
Firstly, science was not primitive as you mentioned at the time of your prophet. Secondly, much of what your prophet claimed as science in the Quran is false. Lastly, the factual scientific claims in the Quran were adopted by the Greeks, Spanish and Egyptians hundreds of years before Islam. You could have easily researched this information for yourself.
Am I the only one who still giggles when I hear Quran and science in the same sentence?
You are very much mistaken because god cannot be proved or disproved. So it doesn't really matter what is said on that u tube videoBut the heading saysthis (Science in Quran Dr Zakir Naik proves existence of GOD using Scientific facts from Quran)Now buddy you must know that we all know that god is a possibility as well as a belief.Neither are absolute truths that we can know at this point in time.
